“Green electricity is our gold”

Västernorrland's position, opportunities and challenges in the green transition were on the agenda when Sundsvall Municipality and the HSO project invited meetings with industry representatives and municipal employees in the region on Monday.

Business Sweden is one of Torsboda Industrial Park's partners and Jaani Heinonen, Head of Invest Business Sweden, was one of the speakers at the meetings. He highlighted that Sweden has an ambition to build up the battery industry and pointed out that the availability of green energy is one of the most important factors in attracting foreign investment to Sweden.

- Green electricity is our gold and we need to take care of and use it in the best way, said Jaani Heinonen. Torsboda is one of the best sites in Europe where access to electricity is one of the great advantages of the site. Sweden's economy is dependent on foreign investment and fifty percent of Swedish exports come from foreign-owned companies. We need to attract investment to Sweden and work so that the companies that already exist here can grow.

Phans-Erik Nilsson, Mid Sweden University, Frederick Gisselman Annelie Axelsson, HSO Project, Jaani Heinonen, Christian Söderberg, Torsboda Industrial Park, talked about green transition from different perspectives and answered questions during today's meetings.

- We have dialogues with stakeholders from many parts of the world, said Christian Söderberg. We will make the best of the conditions we have and with perseverance I see that we can live up to our mission, which is to create 2,000 to 4,000 jobs.
